ow, I am not sure where to begin. When my name was announced as Miss Shelby County I was in complete shock! I have always wanted to represent Shelby County and I feel very blessed to have the opportunity to do so. All of the people who make Miss Shelby County possible are nothing short of amazing. I am thrilled to be the new representative for a community that I call home and for a group of people who work very hard to make this program a great success.
am a recent graduate of Jacksonville State University and I will be starting my new career as a kindergarten teacher this fall at Meadow View Elementary. This means I will not only get to be an educator in Shelby County, but a representative as well. I am so thankful for the way things worked out and I have the good Lord to thank for that.
y platform is entitled "Passion Performance" which gives all children an opportunity to dance. I have been trained in dance for the past 19 years and it is so rewarding to share this gift with those who cannot afford to take dance due to financial set backs or physical disabilities. I am also working closely with Children's Hospital. I realize that dance is not the only way to reach out and make a difference, so each year I host a pageant as well as a fundraiser for Children's Miracle Network and the Children's Hospital in Birmingham. It is so touching to donate not only money, but time to a place that is full of faces that need someone's help. Just to walk in the hospital and put a smile on one child's face is worth every minute of my time.
hope to continue to reach out to the community through my platform and with my life. This community has given me so much and I am very grateful to have the opportunity to give back. I will be making appearances, promoting my platform, and doing my best to make Shelby County proud. I am thrilled beyond belief about being Miss Shelby County and I can't wait to see what all God has in store for me. Thank you to all who believed in me and I am looking forward to an exciting year!
