i, as your new Miss Shelby County it is an honor for me to have the opportunity to serve the communities of Shelby County for the next year. I feel that being raised here in Shelby County has helped me to develop into the young women I am today. I am so thrilled to have this opportunity to give back to my community by representing this wonderful area. Having the opportunity to work with the Miss Shelby County directors and board members is such a blessing and I want to say “thank you” for everything that has already been done for me and for your continued support in this coming year. You all play such a vital role in helping to mold and better the young women in our communities. I want to publicly say “thank you” for working so hard to provide me with the scholarship that is helping me further my education and better my life! currently attend the University of Montevallo where I am a junior studying Elementary and Collaborative Education. Once I graduate I plan to begin teaching at a school in Shelby County. I teach dance and baton at Tap, Toe, and Twirl in Helena, where I have been taking dance since I was nine years old. Being able to teach children, the thing I love to do the most, has blessed my life in countless ways. y community service project Fun-N-Fit Kids: A Fitness Awareness Program, is very close to my heart. I started this program in August of 2008 out of my love for children and my desire to personally mentor and teach them how to live a healthy lifestyle. I have implemented my program at the Shelby County YMCA and with Girl Scout troops in Helena. I believe if I can empower our children with the knowledge to live a healthy lifestyle I will have accomplished a lifetime of achievement. Children are the future success of our nation and we should all work hard to provide them with a real life example of living healthy, which is my main goal in working with this program. hank you again Shelby County for all you have done for my family and I. I look forward to serving this area and bettering our children! God bless! Love, Ashlee Stiglich Miss Shelby County 2010 |
